Firstly – we hope that everyone in our school community and their extended families are remaining safe and healthy during this particularly strange and challenging time. We really miss all our students and we are looking forward to a time when we can open the school again and welcome everyone back.
We have to ensure at this time that first and foremost the children remain as happy and safe as possible. Not every family will be in a position to participate in the activities we have outlined for each class. As a staff, we completely understand this and we value every family’s decision equally. There is no obligation on families to complete the activities we suggest. Everyone’s main focus should be on keeping safe and healthy, that includes the health and safety of our staff also.
As noted in the previous post we are marking additional work only for 30th March – 3rd April. We are taking into account Easter Holidays.
Every primary school in Ireland is in the same situation. Primary school children are extremely resilient and enthusiastic learners, so fear not, they will bounce back from these present obstacles in no time. Now is a wonderful chance for children to learn about practical tasks like cooking and cleaning around the home and the value of helping their families.
Most importantly at this time, our main hope is that everyone in our school community and their families stay safe and healthy during these uncertain times and we stress again that the direction noted here from staff is a guide, please do not feel under pressure if your situation at home does not facilitate this work.
Take care everyone – warm regards,
Staff of Kilcoona N.S.
