27th April – 1st May 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Another week of remote learning! We hope you are all keeping safe and healthy.

Thank you for your engagement with our survey and we ask anyone who hasn’t completed the survey to please take it as we have updated our email contacts from this feedback. We are working through the responses and our teachers will be in contact during the week regarding any queries raised from the survey.

Please be assured that everyone is doing a great job, it is a very strange situation we are all living through and we need to be aware of that, all houses are doing their best and we appreciate every effort from staff and parents alike – our children are lucky to have such care and support at this time.  Please don’t worry about printing out templates or worksheets, the children can work into their copies, or on any paper from home, it doesn’t specifically need to be the sheet the teacher has attached, this is only a guide for the parent.

Having consulted our Inspector, and aligning our practice with the Department of Education and Skills document ‘Guidance on Continuity of Schooling’, we are going to use the PDST recommended platform SeeSaw to interact with our students. Mr. Kerin has started to work on rolling this out with 6th class and during the coming week we wish to bring our senior classes on to this platform. It will take some work both from school and home to get everything up and running so we will appreciate your support with this. Once we have 6th class connected we will add in 5th, 4th and 3rd. We hope to add in the Junior Classes in the coming weeks also.

In light of this the Board of Management have ratified an update to our Acceptable Use Policy and also issued guidance for parents and teachers in using the staff email and SeeSaw. We hope it will help with feedback from teachers on work completed by our students

Please find an outline of work below for the classes for Monday 27th April – Friday 1st May.  Please see this as a menu of options that you can work on as suits your family situation at present.

The teachers have provided their email on the documents and are happy for photos of the work to be sent to their email where they can then give feedback to the students on work completed. We look forward to rolling out the SeeSaw App and seeing how it works with our senior classes.

Take care everyone – warm regards,

Staff of Kilcoona N.S.
